Habitat and Location:

Trichotosia ferox is a remarkable species found in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. This species thrives on the trunks of trees in cloud forests, particularly stunted cloud forests.

 

Description and Key Features:

The stems, or pseudobulbs, measure up to 70 cm. The leaves are covered with red hairs and measure 9-13 cm. The inflorescences are pendent from the stem and bear several flowers that measure 1 cm across.

 

Care Instructions:

For optimal growth, Trichotosia ferox should be placed in moderate shade. Mount the plant on cork or place in a pot with a media consisting of fine bark, perlite and moss. Water the plant regularly, keeping the media evenly moist. Suitable for indoors, large terrarium or greenhouses.

 

Maintain an intermediate environment with daytime temperatures ranging from 18-29 degrees Celsius and nighttime temperatures between 14-19 degrees Celsius. Trichotosia ferox refers high humidity, ideally above 65%.
