Trichopilia sanguinolenta is from Ecuador, Columbia, and Peru. In the wild this species grows in wet montane forest at elevations from 600 to 2,000 metres. Inflorescence’s measure 10cm and bears successively opening flowers of which one or more, rarely two, will be open at any one time. Plants bloom from late winter and into the spring.

 

This plant is flowering size and is in a pot. Grow Trichopilia sanguinolenta in a pot with a fine to medium bark mix or on a mount, in moderate shade (brighter during the winter months), never in direct sunlight and keep it evenly moist all year. Grow in an intermediate greenhouse and with night temperatures of 15- 21 degrees and day temperatures of 26 to 30 degrees. Plants are suited for a greenhouse or indoors. If grown indoors, ensure that plants get sufficient light to be able to flower.
