Habitat and Location:

Litchi chinensis, is the sole species in this genus. The fruit trees occur naturally from Java and New Guinea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Hainan, Laos, Thailand, Assam, Myanmar and Malaysia.

Description and Key Features:

Litchi chinensis has been in cultivation as long as the 11th century, and is widely grown in Asia. Plants reach highs of 15-28 metres in the wild but are much less in cultivation. The leaves on a fill grown tree measure 20 cm. The fruits take about 90-100 days on the tree to become edible. These plants are growing in pots and ready to be transplanted into a bigger pot where they will thrive when given suitable conditions.

Care Instructions:

Grow Litchi chinensis in a large pot to allow it to grow, use a media with a blend of soil, fine bar, charcoal and perlite. Keep plants well-watered and provide air circulation especially in humidity above 70%. Provide moderate to bright light and feed for growth, water lightly daily to mimic natural moisture conditions increasing in frequency during warmer weather and maintain an intermediate or warm environment with night temperatures of 10-21 degrees and daytime temperatures of 19-31 degrees. Feed plants all year.

Thank you so much for my Lychee tree. I've just taken delivery of it and I'm very pleased. It was well packed and a strong looking specimen. I may have ordered this at the wrong time of year, as tropical plants need a lot of heat, but the team at Orchid Botanics have done me proud and shipped my tree as soon as they possibly could.

I will definitely be back to pick out a few more plants from you at some point.
