Habitat and Location:

Lepanthes myiophora, a species found in Panama and Costa Rica’s montane forests at elevations between 100 and 1,800 metres.

Description and Key Features:

Lepanthes myiophora is an unusual species as it produces elongated extensions to the petals, called connectives. The plant itself only reaches 3 cm high, the petals and flowers are tiny. Each ramicauls (stem), produces a solitary leaf. The flowers are produced successively on an inflorescence that emerges from the base of the leaf.

Care Instructions:

Grow Lepanthes myiophora on a mount for optimal air circulation, ensuring sufficient air movement, especially in humidity above 50% or grow it in a small bark with a fine bark, charcoal and perlite mix with live moss at the surface. Provide shade for growth and flowers, keep the plant wet to mimic natural moisture conditions and never let the plant dry. Maintain an intermediate or cool greenhouse/terrarium with night temperatures of 12-18 degrees and daytime temperatures of 20-27 degrees. Feed plants all year.
