Habitat and Location:

Impatiens niamniamensis, is an epiphytic species from Ethiopia, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo, and Gabon. This species grows in the dense understories of the jungle.

 

Description and Key Features:

Impatiens niamniamensis is an easy to grow species, the flower colour is noticeable hence its common name. The plant can measure up to 90 cm tall. The leaves are dark green and from the upper parts of the stems. The flowers emerge from nodes underneath the leaves.

 

Care Instructions:

Impatiens niamniamensis in a pot with a media consisting of fine bark, soil, perlite, and moss. Ensure the plant is grown in shade and does not dry out. Provide low light for growth and flowers, never let the media dry out completely, keep watering consistent and feed lightly every water from March to November. Maintain an intermediate to warm greenhouse or larger lower lit paludarium with night temperatures of 15-21 degrees and daytime temperatures of 22-31 degrees. Suitable for indoor growth if it gets consistent watering, and shade.
