Habitat:
Disterigma rimbachii is an epiphytic shrub native to the wet tropical could forest regions of Ecuador. It thrives in cool, humid climates, often found at elevations up to 3,300 meters.
Description:
This species can grow up to 60 cm tall and may exhibit both terrestrial and epiphytic growth habits. It features reddish pink flowers with yellow anthers and produces small, purple edible berries.
Cultivation:
Disterigma rimbachii prefers well-draining, acidic soil and thrives in full sun to partial shade. Place plants in a basket or mount on cork bark with live moss underneath. It requires careful water management to prevent root rot, and protection from direct sunlight is essential to avoid leaf scorch. Regular pruning in late winter or early spring helps maintain its shape and remove any dead or and dying anther caps. Give plants daytime temperates between 18 oC and 26 oC and night time temperatures between 10 to 29 cm
