Dendrochilum uncatum var longispicatum, is a recognised variety, once considered a species in its own right, The species is found in the Philippines growing as an epiphyte.
Description and Key Features:
Dendrochilum uncatum var longispicatum is a striking orchid with bright yellow flowers. The plant itself attains a height of c20 cm and produces arching inflorescences, measuring 15 cm. Plants flower in profusion in the spring. The flowers are butter yellow and without scent. This species was unknown until these particular ‘unknown Dendrochilum’ flowered in our collection and were identified as this species variety.
Care Instructions:
Grow Dendrochilum uncatum var longispicatum on a mount or in a pot. Provide moderate to bright light for growth and flowers, spray mounted plants every day and water potted plants just before the media begins to dry. Maintain an intermediate or warm greenhouse/terrarium with night temperatures of 15-22 degrees and daytime temperatures of 22-31 degrees. Suitable for indoor growth with ample light, and consistent but less watering schedules.
