Dendrobium tortile is a species from India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. In the wild this species inhabits dryer semi-deciduous and humid forests at elevations around 1,200 metres. Inflorescences are short, emerge from leafless canes and measure 5-8cm and bear 2-3 pretty and scented flowers

Grow Dendrobium tortile in a pot with a fine bark media, in moderate light, never in direct or bright sunlight and give it a lot of water during the growing season and drastically reduced during the winter months. Increase water as new growths emerge in the spring. This plant grows well in an intermediate greenhouse and appreciates night-time temperatures of 15-18 degrees and day temperatures of 25 to 28 degrees. This species likes a distinct difference between day and night temperature and a short winter rest. Plants can be grown indoors in suitable conditions.
