Coelogyne tomentosa is a species from southeast Asia. In the wild this species inhabits humid mountain valleys and gullies and montane forests at elevations between 1,100 - 2,100 metres. Inflorescences measure 40-60 cm, bear up to 30 flowers that each measure 4 cm across. Plants bloom during the summer and autumn and the flowers are scented.

This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot. Grow Coelogyne tomentosa in a pot (hanging is best) or a basket with fine bark mixed with moss. Grow plants in moderate light, and never in direct or bright sunlight. Plants do not like to dry out and need excellent quality water all year. Plants grow well in an intermediate greenhouse and appreciate night-time temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees and daytime temperatures of 25 to 28 degrees. Plants grow well indoors and will flower if given sufficient light and a difference between day and night temperature.
