Coelogyne nitida is a species from the Himalayas. In the wild this species is an epiphyte inhabiting tree trunks in seasonal forests. Inflorescences are nodding and bear several scented flowers that each measure 4-5 cm across.

This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot. Grow Coelogyne nitida in a pot or basket with fine bark media mixed with moss. Grow plants in moderate light, and never in direct or bright sunlight. Plants do not like to dry out completely and need excellent quality water all year. Plants grow well in a cool greenhouse or terrarium and appreciate night-time temperatures of 8 to 16 degrees and daytime temperatures of 22 to 27 degrees. Plants grow well indoors and will flower if given a difference between day and night temperature, daytime warmth and sufficient light.
