Coelogyne Linda Buckley
Habitat:
Coelogyne Linda Buckley is a hybrid orchid resulting from the cross between Coelogyne mooreana and Coelogyne cristata. Registered with the Royal Horticultural Society by R. Hull in 1989, this hybrid combines traits from its parent species.
Description:
This orchid exhibits an upright flowering habit, a characteristic inherited from Coelogyne mooreana. The flowers are predominantly white with golden accents, featuring wavy sepals attributed to the Coelogyne cristata parentage. The blossoms are notably large, with some reports indicating diameters approaching 10 centimeters.
Cultivation:
Coelogyne Linda Buckley thrives in cool to intermediate temperatures, ranging from 18°C to 24°C during the day and slightly cooler at night. It prefers bright, indirect light; an east-facing window is ideal to provide morning sunlight while protecting the plant from harsh afternoon rays. Maintain high humidity levels between 50% and 70%. Water the plant thoroughly, allowing the potting medium to dry slightly between waterings to prevent root rot. During the growing season, apply a balanced orchid fertilizer every two weeks. In winter, reduce watering and feeding to encourage blooming.
