Habitat and Location:

Coelogyne floresensis is an orchid species native to the Lesser Sunda Islands. It typically grows as a pseudobulbous epiphyte in wet equatorial rainforests at elevations around 1,200 metres.

Description:

This orchid is a small sized Coelogyne, the inflorescences are arching and produce smaller and beautiful green, and brown flowers. The inflorescences measure 18-15 cm and bear several flowers. The flowers measure 2.5-3 cm. Plants are suitable for growing indoors, in a greenhouse, paludarium or in a conservatory. This is a genuinely rare species in cultivation.

Care Instructions:

For optimal growth, Coelogyne floresensis requires moderately bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent leaf burn. Maintaining high humidity levels, ideally between 55% to 80%, is beneficial, with brisk air circulation to prevent leaf spot fungi. Watering should be consistent, keeping the potting medium moist but not waterlogged. During active growth, fertilize regularly with a balanced orchid fertilizer, reducing frequency during dormancy. Repotting is best done only when necessary and in the spring when new growth starts, using a well-draining medium such as a fine-grade potting mix or sphagnum moss.

Grow in an intermediate greenhouse and with night-time temperatures of 15 to 21 degrees and daytime temperatures of 25 to 30 degrees.
