Cadetia chionantha is from Papua New Guinea. This species inhabits wet montane cloud forest as an epiphyte or lithophyte at elevations around 3,000 metres.

 

Pseudobulbs and leaves are small, good sized plants themselves measure 5-10 cm. The inflorescences are noticeably short and bear solitary short lived flowers. The flowers are crystalline white. Plants bloom during the spring but may flower at other times of the year.

 

Grow Cadetia chionantha in a cool humid greenhouse. This species is not suitable for growing indoors unless in a terrarium with cool temperatures.

 

Care Instructions:

Grow Cadetia chionantha on a mount with moss underneath or in a pot with a moss, fine bark and perlite mixed media. Provide good air circulation, leaving it on continually when humidity is above 70%. Provide water by keeping potted plants damp and spray mounts every day and soak them in rainwater once a week. Maintain a cool to cold greenhouse/terrarium with night temperatures of 12-16 degrees and daytime temperatures of 18-27 degrees.
