Bulbophyllum cymbidioides is a recently described species from Sulawesi, Indonesia. In the wild this species is found in the islands southwest as an epiphyte in the understory on bushes in remnants of lowland open forests and montane forest at elevations between 1,600-2100 metres. The pseudobulbs are placed close together with less than 1 cm apart. The leaves are just under 10 cm long. Inflorescences measure 10-18 cm, bear up to 4 flowers that measure 1.5 cm across. The plant usually blooms during spring and summer.
Grow Bulbophyllum cymbidioides on a mount in humidity above 75% or in a pot with a media consisting of fine bark, perlite, charcoal and live moss at the surface. Place plants in shade, never in direct sunlight and kept them moist year-round.
Grow this species in an intermediate greenhouse and give it night-time temperatures of 14 - 19 degrees and daytime temperatures of 23 to 28 degrees. Plants are better suited for a greenhouse but will grow and potentially flower indoors in a moderately shaded location or in a terrarium/paludarium with lights.
Plant size - This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot, 4-6 pseudobulbs.
