In the wild this species is a trunk epiphyte (recorded lower down) or terrestrial (recorded as scrambling over sphagnum moss), at elevations between 1,300 – 2,000 metres. Inflorescences measure 10 cm, bear many flowers, the flowers measure 5 cm across. The flowers usually bloom during the spring.
This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot. Grow Bulbophyllum croceum on a mount or in a pot with moss and a medium/fine bark mix. Grow plants in moderate light, never in direct sunlight in the summer and keep them well watered all year. Grow this species in an intermediate or warm greenhouse and with night-time temperatures of 14- 22 degrees and daytime temperatures of 26 to 30 degrees.
