Description

Trichocentrum longicalcaratum is from Columbia, Peru and Ecuador. This species inhabits wet, humid and dense forests at elevations between 900 and 1,800 metres. Inflorescences emerge from the leaf axils and bear a solitary flower that measures 3cm. Plants flower during the winter months.

This is a flowering sized plant and is in a small netted pot. Grow Trichocentrum longicalcaratum on a mount or in a small pot. Make sure plants get sufficient air movement particularly when gown in humidity above 70%; always ensure that humidity is high and give plants moderate light. If growing this species in a pot it is important to ensure that it does not stay wet for long. This species grows well in an intermediate greenhouse or indoors in suitable conditions, including, a difference between day and night temperature, air movement, enough light and sufficient humidity.
