Description

Sobennikoffia robusta is a species endemic to the north west of Madagascar. In the wild this species grows in sandy soil and as an epiphyte in seasonally dry forest at elevations around 1,500 metres. Inflorescences measure 40cm and bear up to 15 large flowers. Flowers usually bloom during the spring and have a strong sweet scent.

This is a flowering sized plant and is in a pot. Grow Sobennikoffia robusta on a mount or in a pot with a fine/medium bark mix. Give plants sufficient air movement and a difference between day and night temperatures; high humidity and moderately bright light all year. Never allow plants to dehydrate completely. Grow in an intermediate greenhouse and with night time temperatures of 15- 18 degrees and day time temperatures of 24 to 27 degrees. Plants are better suited for a greenhouse but will grow and potentially flower indoors if given optimum conditions.
