Description

Cattleya labiata is from Brazil. In the wild this species grows as an epiphyte on tree trunks in warm humid forest at elevations between 600 and 900 metres. The inflorescences emerge from the apices of newly formed pseudobulbs and bear 2-5 flowers that measure 15-18cm across.

This is a flowering size plant and is growing in a pot. Grow Cattleya labiata on a mount or in a pot with a fine/medium bark media, in bright to moderate light, brighter sunlight over the winter and give it a lot of water during the growing season and slightly reduced during the winter months. Increase water as new growths emerge in the spring. Plants grow well in a warm to intermediate greenhouse and appreciate night time temperatures of 14-19 degrees and day time temperatures of 26 to 30 degrees. Plants are suitable for growing indoors and will flower is given sufficient light.
