Description

Cattleya trianae is from Columbia. In the wild this species is found growing as an epiphyte or lithophyte in the Atlantic forest. Inflorescences emerge from the apices of newly formed pseudobulbs, measure 30cm and bear 2-3 flowers that measure 20cm across. Plants bloom during the winter months.

This is a flowering size plant and is growing in a pot. Grow Cattleya trianae on a mount or in a pot with a fine/medium bark media, in bright to moderate light, brighter sunlight over the winter and give it a lot of water during the growing season. Plants make two new growths every year (both flower), one in the summer and the second in the autumn. Give plants a short rest after the second growth is fully grown. Increase watering again after it flowers. This plant grows well in a warm to intermediate greenhouse and appreciates night time temperatures of 14-19 degrees and day time temperatures of 26 to 30 degrees. Plants are suitable for growing indoors and will flower is given sufficient light.
