Ansellia africana is a species from Africa found in various countries. In the wild this species grows high up in tree canopies close to water courses and under 700 metres elevation. Inflorescences measure up to 80cm and bear many flowers that each measure 5cm across. Plants bloom during the spring or autumn.

This is a flowering size plant and is growing in a pot. Grow Ansellia africana in a pot with a fine/medium bark media, in bright to moderate light, brighter sunlight over the winter and give it a lot of water during the growing season and slightly reduced during the winter months. Increase water as new growths emerge in the spring. Plants grow well in a warm to intermediate greenhouse and appreciate night time temperatures of 14-20 degrees and day time temperatures of 26 to 32 degrees. Plants are suitable for growing indoors and will flower is given sufficient light.
