Description

Isabelia violacea is a species from Brazil. In the wild this species is an epiphyte growing in humid understories of forest near Rio De Janeiro and in the drier savannah of Minas Gerais. Inflorescence measure 5cm, and bear up to 4 flowers that each measure about 2cm across. Plants usually bloom during the spring.

This is a flowering size plant and is growing on a mount. Grow Isabelia violacea on a mount, with moderate shade, never in direct or bright sunlight and ensure it gets high humidity but does not stay wet for long. This plant grows well in an intermediate greenhouse and appreciates night time temperatures of 14-18 degrees and day time temperatures of 26 to 32 degrees. This species is not suited for growing indoors but will grow well in a vivarium or paludarium.
