In the wild this epiphytic species inhabits semi deciduous and deciduous woodland with a defined dry season and at elevations below 1,300 metres. Inflorescence measures 10-30cm and bears up to 50 flowers. The flowers are scented, long lasting and the plant blooms during the spring or summer.

Description

Aerides crassifolia is from Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand. In the wild this epiphytic species inhabits semi deciduous and deciduous woodland with a defined dry season and at elevations below 1,300 metres. Inflorescence measures 10-30cm and bears up to 50 flowers. The flowers are scented, long lasting and the plant blooms during the spring or summer.

This plant is flowering size and is in a pot. Grow Aerides crassifolia in a pot or on a large mount, in bright light, direct sunlight only from autumn until early spring and allow it to dry in between watering. This plant grows well in a warm to intermediate greenhouse and appreciates night time temperatures of 16-25 degrees and day time temperatures of 26 to 32 degrees. Plants need high humidity, and a lot of light making them more amenable for a greenhouse.
