Cattleya hoehnei

Cattleya hoehnei is from Brazil and until recently was known as Laelia mixta, one of the rupiculous Laelia. In the wild this species is a lithophyte which grows on exposed rock at elevations of around 800 metres. The plant's size depends on the amount of direct sunlight it receives and plants will be smaller if grown in direct sunlight. Inflorescences measure up to 50cm and bear up to 15 flowers that measure 5cm across.

Cattleya hoehnei is from Brazil and until recently was known as Laelia mixta, one of the rupiculous Laelia. In the wild this species is a lithophyte which grows on exposed rock at elevations of around 800 metres. The plant's size depends on the amount of direct sunlight it receives and plants will be smaller if grown in direct sunlight. Inflorescences measure up to 50cm and bear up to 15 flowers that measure 5cm across.

This plant is flowering size. Grow Cattleya hoehnei in a pot with plenty of gravel in the media, in very bright light and water it year round, the plant itself needs to dry rapidly after watering. This plant grows well in an intermediate greenhouse although likes cooler temperatures in the winter and will grow indoors under suitable conditions.
