Description

Masdevallia constricta is from Ecuador and Peru. In the wild this species inhabits submontane forest at elevations between 1,200 and 1,800 metres. Inflorescences measure 8cm and bear solitary flowers that are 4.5cm across. Plants bloom during the autumn months.

This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot. Grow Masdevallia constricta in a net pot with sphagnum moss, in shade, and keep it evenly watered all year. I grow this species sitting in water and ensure the leaves are always cool to touch. Grow in an intermediate to cool greenhouse and indoors if cool night time temperatures and air circulation are provided at all times.
