Description

Lycaste dowiana is from Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. In the wild this species inhabits wet forest at elevations between 700 and 1,400 metres. Inflorescences measure up to 10cm and bear solitary flowers. Flowers are scented and plants bloom during summer and autumn.

This plant is flowering size. Grow Lycaste dowiana in a pot with a bark/moss mix, in moderate shade, never in direct sunlight and with a lot of water during the summer months. Give plants a dry cool period over the winter months once the leaves have fallen. If growing indoors ensure that the night time temperatures are cool and that the plant does not stay damp for very long.
