Andinia schizopogon is from Ecuador and Peru. This species inhabits scrubby montane cloud forest as a twig epiphyte and at elevations between 2,400 and 3,100 metres. Inflorescences measure 5-15cm, emerge from the ramicauls and bear successively opening flowers. The plant blooms at any time of the year and large plants grown well will remain in flower year-round. Blooming is subject to environmental and cultural conditions being favourable.

Andinia schizopogon is from Ecuador and Peru. This species inhabits scrubby montane cloud forest as a twig epiphyte and at elevations between 2,400 and 3,100 metres. Inflorescences measure 5-15cm, emerge from the ramicauls and bear successively opening flowers. The plant blooms at any time of the year and large plants grown well will remain in flower year-round. Blooming is subject to environmental and cultural conditions being favourable.

 

This is a flowering sized plant. Grow Andinia schizopogon in a pot with sphagnum moss or on a mount. Grow plants in shade and high humidity above 70%, mounted plants need humidity above 80% at all times. Grow plants in a cool to cold greenhouse. Make sure the plant gets sufficient air movement, particularly in higher humidity. Never let the plant dehydrate. This species is not suitable for growing indoors.
