Trichopilia tortilis is from Central America. In the wild this species grows in wet montane forest at elevations below 1,500 metres. Inflorescences measure 10cm and bear 1-3 flowers that are fragrant. Plants bloom from late spring and into summer.

This plant is flowering size. Grow Trichopilia tortilis in a pot, in shade (brighter during the winter months), never in direct sunlight and keep it evenly moist all year. This plant grows well in an intermediate greenhouse and will grow indoors if consistent temperatures are provided. This species likes cooler night time temperatures.
