Scaphosepalum pulvinare is from Colombia. This species inhabits rainforests at elevations around 1,500 metres. Inflorescences measure 60cm+ and bear many successively opening flowers. There can be several flowers open on each inflorescence at any one time, a feature unusual in this genus. Plants bloom at any time of the year and large plants grown well will remain in flower year-round.

Description

Scaphosepalum pulvinare is from Colombia. This species inhabits rainforests at elevations around 1,500 metres. Inflorescences measure 60cm+ and bear many successively opening flowers. There can be several flowers open on each inflorescence at any one time, a feature unusual in this genus. Plants bloom at any time of the year and large plants grown well will remain in flower year-round.

This is a flowering sized plant. Grow Scaphosepalum pulvinare in a pot with sphagnum moss. Give plants sufficient air movement particularly when gown in humidity above 80%; ensure that humidity is sufficiently high and give plants moderate shade. Grow wet; I grow my Scaph species sitting in water. This plant grows well in an intermediate to cool greenhouse or indoors in suitable conditions.
