This plant is flowering size. Grow Maxillaria schunkeana in a pot with a sphagnum moss/fine bark and perlite mix as the media. Give plants moderate shade with a little light and keep them well watered from spring to autumn and drier during the winter months. This species is suited to an intermediate greenhouse, temperatures above 13 degrees at night and rising to 25-30 during the day. If growing this species indoors make sure that there is enough humidity, temperatures are sufficient, and that air circulation is sufficient but does not dry out the air around the plant.
