Masdevallia prodigiosa is endemic to Peru. In the wild this species inhabits mountain cloud forest at elevations around 2,000 metres. Inflorescences measure 4-6cm and bear solitary flowers that measure 6cm. Plants bloom at any time of the year.
This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot. Grow Masdevallia prodigiosa in a small pot with moss, in moderate light, never in direct sunlight and keep it evenly moist all year. This plant needs a cool greenhouse and will grow indoors if air circulation is constant, the humidity is very high, and night time temperatures are low.
