Description

Dracula deltoidea is a species endemic to Columbia. In the wild this species inhabits mountain cloud forest at elevations between 2,600 and 3,000 metres. Inflorescences arch or are pendent and successively opening flowers. bear solitary flowers. Plants bloom at any time of the year and when conditions are suitable.

This is a flowering sized plant. Grow Dracula deltoidea in a net pot or basket and use loosely packed sphagnum moss as a media. Make sure plants get sufficient air movement particularly when gown in humidity above 80%; always ensure that humidity is high and give plants moderate to deep shade. Plants need to be grown wet; I grow my Dracula species sitting in water and I remove this particular species from water once spikes are seen. This avoids the spikes growing downwards into the water. This species grows well in an intermediate to cool greenhouse or indoors in suitable conditions, including, a difference between day and night temperature, air movement and humidity.
