Caucaea nubigena

Caucea nubigena is an easy to grow species from Columbia and Ecuador. This species grows in upper montane and cloud forest at elevations between 2,500 and 3,500 metres. Inflorescences measures 60cm and bear 8-12 flowers. The flowers are not scented and plants  usually bloom during the late autumn and winter months.

Grow Caucea nubigena in a pot, in moderate shade, never in direct sunlight. Plants need to be watered consistently throughout the year. Grow plants in a cool to cold greenhouse with night time temperatures as low as 5-6 degrees and up to 14 degrees and with a daytime rise in temperature of at least 10 degrees. Plants can be grown indoors but will struggle with central heating and dry air.. If grown indoors ensure that the night time temperatures are cool.
