Cattleya brevipedunculata is from Brazil and until recently was known as Sophronitis brevipedunculata. This species grows on a certain type of tree, either as an epiphyte or amongst rocks and at elevations between 1,200 and 2,000 metres. Inflorescences are short, bear up to three flowers, each measuring 4-5cm across and are large compared to the plant. The plant flowers during the spring.

Description

This plant is flowering size. Grow Cattleya brevipedunculata on a mount, in very bright light and allow it to dry in between watering, the plant itself needs to dry rapidly after watering. This plant grows well in an intermediate greenhouse although likes cooler temperatures in the winter and at night and will grow indoors under suitable conditions.
